For several years we have been dealing with the artisanal production of unique majolica pieces, decorated and modeled by hand following the style of the classic colors of Caltagirone ceramics from all eras.
We study the country's artisanal productions and select unique objects that represent the history of Caltagirone majolica, recognized throughout the world for its artistic and cultural value.
Always linked to old traditions, we give our creations our artistic tone which makes them so unique and inimitable, thus creating a new design in them. We are inspired by the style of the classic colors of the ceramics of Caltagirone (Italy) of all eras, made with unique glazes that recall the origins of the oriental world in which the colors were produced by the fusion of kaolin-based glazes. It is therefore the Arabs who have preserved this ancient oriental recipe throughout history.
Always reminding us that the first masters of glazing were certainly the Japanese with their porcelain. Ceramics have been known since prehistoric times and it is assumed that its invention occurred only twice in the history of humanity: between the Saharan and Japanese populations. From these places of origin it then spread throughout the world.
Thanks to the experience consolidated over the years, we are now able to give life to new techniques during the finishing and firing phases. We select unique local artisan productions that represent the true history of Caltagirone majolica, which is recognized throughout the world for its true artistic and cultural value. Always remaining tied to old traditions, today we give our creations our artistic tone, which makes them unique and inimitable, thus creating a new design that ties together the classical tradition with the modern one.

Ceramica Sofia was born in 2002 when one of the brothers (Nicola), as a boy, after years of having acquired real skills in the workshops of his city, decided together with his only brother (GIUSEPPE) to start making ceramics at a small laboratory of only 30 square meters.

The manufacturing process that leads to the creation of our ceramics is divided into six important phases: Turning, Drying, first firing, Glazing, Decoration and Aging .
For each of these phases we dedicate the utmost care to every detail so that the final product is the result of a unique, inimitable and unaltered work over time.
